It's never easy to extricate oneself from a scandal when Neptune is squaring your Sun. This is what the leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Pablo Rodriguez, is currently experiencing. This planet dissolves everything it touches, and because we’re dealing here with the solar body, the boundaries of the ego disappear beneath a thick fog. It is thus difficult to defend oneself, to project a clear image, because one is visibly elsewhere.
This transit was within orb when Mr. Rodriguez resigned from his federal positions before running for the leadership of the provincial party—a race he won with a fine Jupiter transit over his Sun.
Neptune and Saturn are currently in relative conjunction. They entered Aries before returning to flirt with the last decan of Pisces. For Mr. Rodriguez, this is an interesting region. Although we don't have his birth time, one can assume that the Sun/Moon midpoint, so sensitive in a person, is located there.
Chiron is also found in this zone—the area of wounds and atonement. Through this Neptune/Saturn conjunction on Chiron, the man symbolizes what must be purged, expiated.
From an astrological bird's-eye view, one can conclude that extricating himself from this predicament will require considerable effort. A dream probably drives the politician, but what fuels his aspirations may be diffuse and fragile, built on sandy foundations. His arrival at the party leadership may have taken place in a secretive atmosphere or one marked by awkwardness.
The year 2026 will be—and it's almost an understatement or a truism to say so—a pivotal year for him. February will see the conclusion of the Neptune/Sun square. I've just read that a judge will issue his inquiry findings during this period regarding the affair that has been shaking the party for several months. The end of the fog?
Saturn will also complete its second return. Let us recall that for an individual, Saturn returns to its natal position two to three times during a lifetime—moments marked by the arrival of adulthood (29–30 years), the culmination of existence (59–60 years), and often its finality (88–90 years).
If aided by Jupiter, which will, among other things, return to its natal position before passing over Venus during the summer, one can imagine the winds turning in his favour. However, it is this exact Jupiter that is currently passing over Mercury, with all the media inflation that entails…
The Saturn return occurring around the time of the election could thus mark a consecration (minor transits are favourable to him).
It will be exciting to follow this man's trajectory over the coming year.
Attacks are coming from all sides for Mr. Rodriguez. With the recent announcement of a police investigation into his political entourage, calls for his resignation were immediately heard. This is corroborated by the Sun's square to the natal Uranus/Pluto conjunction. Mars opposes the Sun on December 15. Will this be enough to announce his retirement? We will find out soon enough...
It was officially on December 17 that Mr. Rodriguez announced his resignation. However, in circles close to him and the party, it is said that he made his decision on the 15th, exactly when Mars, as I noted, was about to oppose his Sun. He did not address the public or journalists today. He will do so tomorrow.
I note that this is still in the context of the Neptune square Sun orb that has been haunting him for several months (and will continue to haunt him until early 2026). In addition, Neptune was perfectly conjunct Chiron. This planetoid is intriguing because it revolves around wounds, around what must be atoned for. It is a form of purgatory. Some people die during these moments, others perform sacrificial or even criminal acts. I don't know the man any better than that. It would be interesting to review his life (what little we know of it) to see if Chiron has anything to do with it. There is a 29th harmonic between Chiron and Mercury at birth. This harmonic means "pride in one's uniqueness," "pride in being oneself." Neptune is therefore currently making a 29th harmonic on Mercury. A harsh lesson...
