If there is one inconsistent and controversial area in astrology, it is that of prediction. On one hand, so-called modern astrologers insist, like their predecessors, that the stars incline but do not compel. On the other hand, they are the first to attempt to predict, to suggest the future.
This is even more true when it comes to examining the lives of the "great" figures of this world, and when I say "great," it is only a measure of their power over the destiny of others. Thus, Donald Trump certainly has more power than my humble self. His greatness stops there. For the rest, as my late father used to say, he looks just as foolish on a toilet bowl as you and I.
Be that as it may, there is an astrology software whose designers seek to stand out. It is called Mastro. Inspired by the work of mathematician and astrologer Vincent Godbout, Mastro is, to my knowledge, the only one to offer a research-based probabilistic approach to human temporality.
One cannot help but smile, for example, around the time of the November 5, 2024 elections, to note that Trump’s astrological indicators are in the green in Mastro while the transits are nonetheless rather timid.
How can this be? Mr. Godbout introduced midpoints into his calculations for both natal and transit charts. After poring over the keywords set out in Reinhold Ebertin’s The Combination of Stellar Influences, the researcher supplemented them with somewhat more recent literature.
A statistical study was conducted on the lives of a large sample of notable figures from a variety of fields. Together with Mastro’s developer, François Rouleau, and colleagues, the concept of "curves" came into being in the form of a scoring system covering approximately 75 main keywords.
The "predictions" that result are sometimes striking, but not necessarily in the way one might think. For example, the assassination attempt of July 13, 2024, is not immediately visible in this scoring, even though the square of transiting Uranus to natal Mars is enough to interpret the event. The dominant "green" of that period would indicate, in my opinion, and if I have not erred in my calculations, that Trump was simply going to come through it and probably use it to his advantage… The astrological analysis of midpoints seems to confirm this entirely.
The software, although sometimes slow to use and with an interface a bit too tied to .NET development and Windows — even somewhat dated — calls us to take destiny seriously (the software is programmed in 32-bit; we are promised an upgraded 64-bit version).
Many astrologers predict the end of the Trumpian nightmare in 2026. Echoing Democratic influencers who scrutinize the slightest signs — here of dementia, there of cancer — astrologers are concerned about the major planetary alignments occurring particularly in April/May and July, both for him and for the planet.
We are (fortunately?) neither inside Trump’s head nor in his body. The data from January 2 are nonetheless intriguing (chart).
There are traditional aspects, as well as those used in cosmobiology, in addition to midpoints. In our example from early 2026, besides the 135° between transiting Sun and natal Mars, passing through the repetitive square of transiting Uranus on the same natal Mars, let us note the insistent passage of transiting Pluto over the natal Mercury/Mars midpoint.
According to Renn Butler: Passionate mental energy and great determination, forceful and effective speech, an ability to think and express oneself with great conviction, a drive to get to the bottom of one’s aggressive tendencies, and powerful verbal catharsis. — An authoritarian or annoying voice, aggressive political opinions, vulgar or crude language, extremely hectic schedules (The Archetypal Universe)
By itself, this passage of Pluto through the 2nd/3rd degrees of Aquarius, at the midpoint of natal Mercury/Mars, explains the verbal brutality of the Trump presidency. First exact passage in February/March, second passage in July/August (retrograde), third passage in December 2025/January 2026. If we account for an orb of only 1°, we get an entire year of bellicose discourse toward the planet.
At this stage, it is worth examining the indicators for the coming months, which brings us, at the time of writing, to mid-March. The series of themes reads as follows. One can read it as an illustrated chronology of what is happening for Trump: stubbornness, change, solitude, imagination, inspiration, illusion, irritability, agitation, power, rupture, grief, surprise, realization, accident.
These themes do not all carry the same score, and the dominant one seems to center around mid-May with the word "grief."
During this period, the minor traditional aspects are nonetheless favourable: transiting Sun sextile natal Saturn, transiting Sun conjunct the MC, transiting Moon sextile natal Uranus, natal Venus conjunct natal Sun, transiting Saturn trine natal Pluto. However, heavier players influence the scoring: transiting Uranus square ASC, transiting Pluto semi-square natal Moon, transiting Sun semi-square natal Mercury, transiting Venus semi-square natal Mars, transiting Mars square natal Venus, transiting Mars square natal Saturn, transiting Saturn/North Node = natal Sun, transiting Pluto sesquiquadrate natal North Node.
One could simply interpret this as a divorce, a crisis of power.
The subsequent keywords, stretching from June to August, portend even more difficulties: ambition, relationships, inhibition, depression, suffering, crisis, discussion, conflict, effort, death, illness, tension, nervous troubles, difficulties, relocation.
Let us reiterate that these themes are peaks noted to varying degrees, with suffering and death scoring higher. Let us specify immediately that these are events of consciousness, to use Vincent Godbout’s expression. It would be tempting, even too easy, to speak here of someone’s death. At most, one can suggest that this theme will be present "in consciousness" for Trump.
For mid-August 2026, this theme of death is fueled by the following astrological manifestations: transiting Mars/Saturn = natal Mercury, transiting Jupiter = natal Mars/Saturn, transiting Uranus = Jupiter/Saturn, transiting Saturn/Uranus = natal Pluto, transiting Pluto sesquiquadrate natal Uranus.
In short, the midpoints documented with the Mastro software provide us with more information than a simple reading of traditional angles.
The vice president’s destiny is certainly linked to Trump’s. What can we envision for him?
It is interesting to note that the beginning of 2026 is marked by the theme of disappointment. The announcement of the birth of his fourth child in July certainly did not manage to obscure the differences of opinion Vance has with Trump regarding the latter’s warmongering inclinations. His political future seems thwarted by his boss’s actions.
Just as with Trump, the May period seems intense, with an intensification of relational conflicts, perhaps a familial or institutional confrontation.
Everything turns green again around the birth of his child, but will it be short-lived? The theme of quarrel, of grief, returns in August, coinciding with what is happening with Trump… The scenario of assuming the presidency is not ruled out.
The Mastro software deserves greater recognition and study. I am a Mac user and had to obtain a Parallels license and a Windows license to run Mastro — not without difficulty at first.
I don’t want to do a full review here. Suffice to say that the software would benefit, in my opinion, from an interface overhaul. Too many entry points for the same thing, a lack of flexibility regarding visual preferences. Incomprehensible use of animation — for example, to export to Excel when the curve calculation is much faster (and supposedly identical), etc.
Mastro seems to have been originally designed for researchers, and this shows in certain places. The documentation does not explain everything. Yet, one must admit that the essentials are there… These are minor annoyances compared to the wealth of information one can obtain.
I have not, as a (superficial) poet of astrology, found any software that entirely satisfies me. However, I greatly appreciate this work on midpoints and would find it hard to do without it.
One thing worries me more than anything: this knowledge of midpoints that seems confined to proprietary software. The Mastro team is small and, although the software has passed the ten-year mark, the dissemination of astrological knowledge must be as enduring as possible. This work is all the more important in that it must be confronted with subsequent studies in order to evolve.
Wishing him a long life ahead, I hope that Mr. Godbout’s work does not go unnoticed and is not lost to oblivion.
